Time to Celebrate! Our Community CarShare is expanding EV Access for Priority Communities
In March, Our Community CarShare (OCCS) celebrated the expansion of its carsharing program to the Pannell Community Center in Meadowview! This addition, along with the Belle Coolidge location (which opened in February), brings the total number of locations in our Sacramento pilot program to 11.

From Your Organic Waste Bin to Compost
Landfills are the third largest source of methane in California, contributing 20% of greenhouse gas emissions to the atmosphere (source: California Air Resources Board). In 2016, Senate Bill 1383 was introduced to reduce methane emissions by decreasing organic waste disposal and increasing food recovery of surplus food.

Not So Smoke-free Media
The fight against tobacco imagery in media has remained an uphill battle. However, the playing field is beginning to level. The Master Settlement Agreement kick started efforts to protect youth from being targeted subjects of tobacco advertising and eliminate branding advertisements in media.

Did you know that November is Lung Cancer Awareness Month? In California this year, an estimated 17,000 people will be diagnosed with lung cancer and nearly 10,000 will die from the devastating disease, according to the American Cancer Society.
