Time to Celebrate! Our Community CarShare is expanding EV Access for Priority Communities
In March, Our Community CarShare (OCCS) celebrated the expansion of its carsharing program to the Pannell Community Center in Meadowview! This addition, along with the Belle Coolidge location (which opened in February), brings the total number of locations in our Sacramento pilot program to 11.
Investing in Breathe’s Story
In Fall 2023, I was granted the opportunity to participate in Sacramento Social Venture Partners’ (now Social Venture Philanthropy) Fast Pitch program. Over 40 local non-profit organizations applied and 18 were selected.
The California Youth Advocacy Conference Recap: Empowering Youth for Change and Connection
In July, Breathe CA staff and Youth Advisory Board members had the opportunity to attend the California Youth Advocacy Network’s (CYAN) annual Youth Advocacy Conference at the gorgeous Happy Valley Conference Center in Santa Cruz.
10th Annual Breathe Youth Fest 2024
Every year since 2013, Breathe California Sacramento Region has held a Public Service Announcement (PSA) Contest, encouraging middle and high school students to submit short videos on harmful effects of commercial tobacco.
Breathe Youth Fest 2023
A great time was had by all at the 2023 Breathe Youth Fest and 9th Annual PSA Contest held on January 27, 2023. Huge thanks to the Sacramento Association of Realtors for their generous donation of their fantastic new event space, the Mack Powell Event Center.
California Youth Advocate Nominated National Youth Advocate of the Year
Breathe California Sacramento Region (BCSR) and the California Youth Advocacy Network (CYAN) are proud to announce that Milton Nguyen has been presented with the 2021 Barrie Fiske National Youth Advocate of the Year Award by the Campaign for Tobacco Free Kids! The Barrie Fiske National Youth Advocate of the Year Award goes to the top senior applicant who has demonstrated a significant commitment to commercial tobacco prevention in their state and community.
Breathe Intern Highlight: Kayla Willis
Mayor Darrell Steinberg’s Thousand Strong initiative is a city-wide approach to work experience development that begins with our local youth. Thousand Strong is a community effort to prepare Sacramento youth for success in careers by offering youth paid internships and the opportunity to learn valuable work skills in real work environments.
