NOMINATION CATEGORIES

Sustainability

This award is for an organization, public or private agency, individual or citizen group who implements sustainable practices that result in improved outdoor air quality. Examples of sustainable practices can include, but are not limited to, implementing smart growth principles, completing energy efficiency retrofits, or utilizing alternative fuel vehicles in fleets.

Leadership

This award is for an individual or citizen group who has demonstrated exemplary leadership in directly improving air quality in a neighborhood, local community, city or county. Examples of leadership can include, but are not limited to, working with elected officials to spearhead a new policy or change in an existing policy that will reduce air pollution, creating an air pollution reduction program for students & parents at a school or college campus, or motivating the public or employees to adopt more air-friendly behaviors.

Innovative Strategy

There are many solutions which help improve outdoor air quality.  This award recognizes an individual or organization that has stepped outside of “business as usual” practices and solutions and developed or implemented an innovative or cutting-edge policy, process or technology that efficiently contributes to decreasing outdoor air pollution.
