Designing Healthy Communities with Dr. Richard Jackson

Tuesday, August 26, 2014 | 11:30am - 1:00pm | Cal/EPA Headquarters Building

Join us on Tuesday, August 26th for a FREE educational forum on Designing Healthy Communities: Creating a Sustainable and Liveable Sacramento Region with Dr. Richard Jackson, chair of UCLA School of Public Health's Environmental Health Sciences Program. Refreshments will be provided from 11:30am - 12pm, followed by discussion and Q&A with Dr. Jackson, where he will share the latest issues and trends with regard to the connections between urban design, the built environment, air quality and public health, and how these issues pertain to Sacramento. There is no cost to attend.

Dr. Jackson is a leading voice for better urban design for the sake of good health. Over his career as a pediatrician, he's done extensive work on the environment's impact on health, particularly relating to children. He has also served in leadership roles as a California State Health Officer, and at the CDC's National Center for Environmental Health. In 2012, he was host-narrator of the 4-hour PBS series, Designing Healthy Communities, and co-author of the companion book of the same name.Click here to view the event flyer.
