The Youth Advisory Board (YAB) is a unique program to enhance our projects by including the youth voice. Our efforts in education, policy, advocacy, and research become more comprehensive by utilizing our talented youth volunteers. Engaging in all areas of the association’s work, the YAB creates synergy. Specifically, this group of 14-21 year olds will:
- Speak on behalf of Breathe California of Sacramento-Emigrant Trails’ programs to the media and at events
- Build new partnerships by supporting the inclusion of mission-based programs on respective school’s campuses
- Creatively fundraise
- Strengthen leadership skills and utilize these skills in planning meetings and events
- Work with the Board of Directors and Breathe California of Sacramento-Emigrant Trails' staff on issues that impact our mission and vision
Members elect a President, Vice President and Communications Officer to facilitate the YAB meetings. One member is selected to serve as a voting member on the Breathe California of Sacramento-Emigrant Trails' Board of Directors and all members hold a seat on at least one YAB committee. Committee chairs are selected to lead the individual sub-committees.
Committees include:
- Air Quality Assessment Project
- Fundraising
- Youth Leadership Summit
- Earth Day
