We are dedicated to healthy air and preventing lung and other air-pollution related diseases by partnering with youth, advocating public policy, supporting air pollution research, and educating the public.
This year we are hosting an art contest for students in grades 9-12 in public, private or home schools. The contest is in coordination with Breathe California’s annual Clean Air Awards Luncheon. Winners will be featured at the awards luncheon.
The theme of the contest is Sustainability- a Living, Breathing Legacy. All entries should have an interpretation of this theme. Entries will be judged in part on interpretation of the theme.
All entries must be postmarked or hand delivered to 909 12 th Street Sacramento, CA 95814 by March 28, 2008, 4:30 p.m.
All entries must be original pieces of work. Breathe California reserves the right to disqualify entries for any reason. Students of all abilities are encouraged to participate.
Entries welcome from the following media:
Video: Entries may not be more than 3 minutes in length. Entries may not have borrowed, copied or shared images.
Paint/Mixed Media: Entries may be submitted on 18” x 24” paper/canvas.
Paint (acrylic, poster, watercolor): Entries may be submitted on 18” x 24” paper/canvas or if not paper/canvas based may not be more than 16” high or 16” wide or weigh more than 10 pounds.
Reused/Recycled Project: Entries may not be more than 16” wide, 16” high or weigh more than 10 pounds.
Ceramics: Entries may not be more than 16” high, 16” wide or weigh more than 10 pounds.
Prizes:
- First Prize: First place will be featured at the annual Breathe California Clean Air Awards Luncheon, May 7, 2008. First place will be prominently featured on the Breathe California website and will earn $100.00.
- Second Prize: Second place will be featured at the annual Breathe California Clean Air Awards Luncheon, May 7, 2008. Second place will be featured on the Breathe California website and will earn $75.00.
- Third Prize: Third place will be featured at the annual Breathe California Clean Air Awards Luncheon, May 7, 2008. Third place will be featured on the Breathe California website and will earn $50.00.
Each prize winner and 1 guest will be invited to attend the Clean Air Awards Luncheon as guests of Breathe California.
